Principal’s Message
Happy New Year from each of us at Paul Revere!
It is our hope that this New Year’s message finds you well after enjoying a joyous and restful holiday season with family and friends.
After a successful start in August, we pause to reflect on our accomplishments and the work that remains to be done. As always, raising
student achievement is always the first priority. Looking back on the months of August through December, I am very grateful to the Revere
team for their efforts to unpack and teach the new and rigorous Common Core Standards, increase teacher capacity to implement the data
cycle through the partnership with Achievement Network and Harvard University, longer school day planning and the development ISAT 2012
action plans. We are also excited about the honor of having Revere’s first National Board Certified Teacher, Rachisha Williams, who serves
students in grades 3 and 4. Great teachers make a difference and go above and beyond the call of duty.
Determined to see students excel, we organized a successful middle school lock-in December 19-22 so students could raise their GPAs. With
more than 50 students participating, many of them beat the “Power of Zero” and elevated grades to Bs and As. With the support of
teachers, this event proved to be the solution for supporting student success. Moving forward, we will continue to be relentless in our efforts
to raise student achievement by hosting an ISAT Boot Camp (Grades 3-8) every Friday during the months of January and February from 3:00-5:
30 p.m. With the support of families, partners like Achievement Network and new Skyway Network (formerly Area 17) leadership, Revere will
soar in its mission to become a school that prepares students to excel in college and succeed in the 21st Century workplace.
In addition to academics, Revere added and continued programs to support the social, emotional and physical health of our students. Our
physical education teacher collaborates with colleagues to raise awareness about health and physical fitness through the new Fit to Learn
and PALA (President’s Active Lifestyle and Awards) programs. More, our lunchroom manager and her team have been instrumental in the
successful implementation of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) that provides our students and staff with nutritional snacks. To
support social/emotional development and the arts, we have the pleasure of partnering with Black Men Sharing and Caring, Global Girls, F.O.
R.U.M(Fulfilling Our Responsibility Unto Mankind), Imani Social Health Services and Access Health at the Gary Comer Youth Center.
If you wish to see more about how we teach and flearn at Revere, please join us for the Learning Fair on Friday, January 13 from 9:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. Parents, community and partners are invited to participate in learning walks in which you visit classrooms and see some of our
special programming. Come see how we flearn and demonstrate P.R.I.D.E. (Paul Revere Instills Determination and Excellence.)
Thank you for supporting the vision to become a 90-90-90 school of excellence. We believe family and community engagement make a
difference and we honor the Revere community.
